At the European Championships held in Guimarães, Portugal, the Azerbaijani men's tumbling team, consisting of Mikhail Malkin, Tofiq Aliyev, Adil Hacızadə, and Bilal Qurbanov, won the gold medal in team competition, marking a historic first for Azerbaijani gymnastics.
The "AGF Trophy" World Cup in rhythmic gymnastics was held in Baku.
For the first time in history, an independent Azerbaijani athlete won a medal in men's artistic gymnastics at the European Championships. Nikita Simonov claimed the silver medal at the event held in Rimini, Italy.
