At the World Cup in artistic gymnastics held in Cairo, Egypt, our gymnast Nikita Simonov was awarded the FIG Cup, based on the total of the highest three results from the four World Cups he participated in during 2023.
The 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were successfully held in Baku. Azerbaijan representatives won 5 medals (1 gold, 4 bronze) at the European Championships. For the first time in the history of Azerbaijani gymnastics, our senior group exercise team won the gold medal at the European Championships. Team members Gullu Agalarzade, Leman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummetova, Yelizaveta Luzan, and Darya Sorokina won gold in the routine with 3 ribbons and 2 balls, and bronze in the all-around. Our individual gymnast Zohra Agamirova, a graduate of the Baku School of Gymnastics, won the bronze medal in the ball routine at the European Championships.
Our junior group exercise team consisting of Govkhar Ibrahimova, Sekinakhanym Ismayilzade, Medina Aslanova, Ilaha Bahadyrova, Ayan Sadigova, and Zahra Jafarova won bronze in both the all-around and the 5-ball routine. With this result, our gymnasts made history by becoming the first team to win medals in two routines at a continental championship.
