AZERBAIJAN RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIP – TO BE HELD IN ISMAYILLI!

The 20th Azerbaijan Championship in rhythmic gymnastics will take place on November 19. 16 athletes, both senior gymnasts and sportswomen born in 1998-2000, will take part in the competitions. Gymnasts will compete for medals in the all-around, as well as with separate apparatus.

For the last five years, Aliya Garayeva, who left a big-time sports after the London-Olympic Games, had steadily been winning the title of Azerbaijan champion. And, now, Marina Durunda and Lala Yusifova, are considered to be the main contenders for a new title and the gold medal.

Along with gymnasts of Republican Complex Sports School and "Baku Flames" club, the representatives of "Neftchi", Baku Gymnastics School, "Spartak" and "Sarhadchi" will also perform in the event. The interest in the championship is also roused by the fact that it will be held out of the capital again as it was two years ago. The names of new champions will be announced at the Olympic Sports Complex in Ismayilli this time. One of the goals of the National Gymnastics Federation is the development of gymnastics not only in Baku but in regions of Azerbaijan as well. There have been opened several sections out of the capital for the last few years.

Colorful Gala performances demonstrated by the best gymnasts as well as by young representatives of the country's this picturesque corner will sum up the championship.
