Welcome speech of the President of International Gymnastics Federation

On December 2 & 3, Baku will host the Congress of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for the first time.

A participation of 300 delegates in total from more than 115 countries is expected in the Congress, which is considered to be the highest regulatory and supreme authority according to the FIG Statutes. The FIG president and its Technical Coordinator, as well as the presidents of the FIG Technical Committees in gymnastics disciplines, will present their reports at the Congress. Afterwards, the presidents of the FIG Continental Unions will make their reports, and the FIG quadrennial financial plan will be approved. Along with these issues, there will be discussed admissions of new national federations and expulsions from FIG affiliation, and allocation of the next Congress venue.

Various offers made by the FIG Authorities and its member federations prior to the Congress will be discussed during the meeting. Approval of possible changes to the FIG rules and regulations, Statutes and presentation of various awards will be included into the Agenda as well.

Prior to the start of the Congress, the meetings of the FIG Presidential Commission (November 29) and the FIG Executive Committee (November 30 and December 1) will be held in Baku.

It should be mentioned that the meeting of one of the FIG governing bodies - FIG Council was held in our capital city in May, 2017.
