There are precious few days left before the European Games, which will feature 20 sports, including 16 Olympic and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6000 athletes from all over Europe will represent their country during the 17 days of the competitions.
Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, favorite not only in Europe, but also throughout the world, along with other gymnastic disciplines will be presented during the competitions. In Azerbaijan, Women's Artistic Gymnastics began to develop in late 2013; Anna Pavlova and Marina Nekrasova were the first gymnasts to represent the country in the international arena.
Traditionally, the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation talked with Marina Nekrasova, who along with two other gymnasts was honored to represent the country at the Games.
Tell us how you got involved in gymnastics. Why did you choose this sport?
It was a long time ago; the parents took me to the gym, I was only 3,5 years old. At this age, I was not able to choose anything, so I believe that parents made the choice. While growing up, I began to realize how beautiful and unusual this sport is!
How do you think, could you perform in any other sport?
I could try, but I cannot leave gymnastics.
How do you deal with your emotions on the day of competition? Have you any special secrets of self-control?
I try not to bring out emotions and feelings to the [gymnastics] floor, and deal with them at home.
What do you think is the most important aspect in any sport?
The most important things are the longing for, the wish and patience.
How dangerous is to be engaged in professional sports, or does it depend on the sport?
It depends on the sport a lot; the most important is to approach deliberately to training.
Do you have an idol in the sport?
I do not highlight anyone, but there are many athletes worthy of respect!
Tell us about your sports plans for the near future.
World Cup Series and European Games are in the plans for the near future. Sure, there are other events, about which I have not think yet.
What do the European Games mean for you and how do you prepare for them?
The European Games is the reason why I came back into the sport. It will be of great responsibility for me, so I will train as hard as I can to achieve positive results!
If we move a little bit away from sport - do you have any aspirations or dreams that you want to achieve?
My dream is to get to the Olympic Games.
Are you able to combine sport with normal life?

My family is big and friendly. They worry about me and support me every day.
Do you have a loved one?
It is difficult to hide a loved one - everyone will know about it!
What do your fans usually shout, and want do you want to hear from them?
