The Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling World Cup was successfully held on February 21–22 at the National Gymnastics Arena. A total of 66 gymnasts from 6 countries participated in this prestigious two-day competition.
In trampoline gymnastics, athletes competed in individual (women and men), synchronized (women and men), and mixed synchronized events. The qualification round took place on the first day, followed by the finals on the second day. On the final day, the excitement in the arena grew even stronger, especially as the performances of Azerbaijani gymnasts were met with great interest and applause from the audience.
Azerbaijan was represented in trampoline gymnastics by Magsud Mahsudov, Huseyn Abbasov, Farhad Valiyev, Nijat Mirzayev, Seljan Mahsudova, Shafiga Humbatova, Ibrahim Mustafazade, and Ayan Shabanova. In tumbling, the country was represented by Mikhail Malkin, Tofig Aliyev, Adil Hajizada, and Bilal Gurbanov.
Based on the qualification results, Seljan Mahsudova and Magsud Mahsudov advanced to the finals in the individual trampoline event. The mixed synchronized pair Magsud Mahsudov – Seljan Mahsudova, the women’s synchronized pair Seljan Mahsudova – Shafiga Humbatova, and the men’s synchronized pair Magsud Mahsudov – Huseyn Abbasov also qualified for the finals.
In tumbling, Tofig Aliyev and Mikhail Malkin also progressed to the finals with strong performances.
According to the final results, Azerbaijan completed the World Cup with a total of 6 medals. In the individual trampoline event, Seljan Mahsudova won a silver medal. In the mixed synchronized event, the pair of Magsud Mahsudov and Seljan Mahsudova claimed gold. In the women’s synchronized event, Seljan Mahsudova and Shafiga Humbatova won bronze, while in the men’s synchronized event, Huseyn Abbasov and Magsud Mahsudov also secured bronze.
In the tumbling competition, Azerbaijani gymnasts took the top two places on the podium. Mikhail Malkin won gold, and Tofig Aliyev earned silver, delighting the audience. Their performances were met with continuous applause throughout.
Additionally, the AGF Trophy cup was awarded to the athletes with the highest execution scores in the qualification round. In tumbling, our gymnast Mikhail Malkin became the winner of the AGF Trophy among men.
It should also be noted that during the competition days, gymnastics fans had the opportunity to meet the athletes and take commemorative photos with them.
