The seventh pre-final Grand Prix series in rhythmic gymnastics, where an Azerbaijani sportswoman Anna Gurbanova took part in, came to the end in Marbella, Spain.
According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, a vice-champion of Euro-2009 reached the 3 finals of 4 possible ones according to the results of the all-around qualification.
She gave her best result in a final exercise with a ribbon where she won the 4th place losing only 0.2 points to Irina Risenzon from Israel, who became the third in that exercise.
Gurbanova took the 5th place (26.75) in a final with a rope, and the 6th place (26.85) with a hoop.
An Olympic Champion Yevgeniya Kanayeva from Russia, the triumpher of the recent European Championships held in Baku, took the first places in exercises with all 4 apparatus. “Silver” was won by her team-mate Darya Kondakova. As to the bronze medals, three of them were won by Aliya Yusupova from Kazakhstan and Melitina Stanyuta from Belarus.
And an international event with a participation of young gymnasts from CIS countries took place in Sherbinka, situated near Moscow. Laman Hajizada and Nahida Ahmadli, performing in the age group 1999, shared 2/3 of the podium having taken the second and third places accordingly.
At the end of this week (June 5-6), these sportswomen and other gymnasts of the same age will compete for the titles of the capital’s best gymnasts. 95 sportswomen in 5 age groups, including gymnasts in out-of-competition and from Ganja (1194-95, 1996-97, 1998, 1999, 2000-01), will perform in Baku championships to be held at the Olympic Sports Complex.
As to the international tournaments, the “Baltic Cup” will take place in Poland on June 5-7, where an Azerbaijani senior group team in group exercises consisting of Vafa Huseynova, Dina Gorina, Anastasiya Prasolova, Valeriya Yegay, Jeyla Guliyeva and Nigar Mirzayeva will participate in.
