Rhythmic Gymnastics European Cup concludes successfully in Baku

The Rhythmic Gymnastics European Cup, a four-day spectacular sporting event, has successfully concluded at a high organizational level in Baku. Hosted in Azerbaijan for the third time, the prestigious competition once again stood out for its unforgettable performances, dynamic atmosphere, and vibrant program.
Gymnasts representing 32 countries delivered a captivating display of elegance and artistry. Carefully selected musical compositions, specially choreographed dance elements, and surprise flash mobs created an engaging experience for spectators of all ages.

Azerbaijan was represented in both individual and group exercises. Notably, the national group exercises team competed with a newly formed lineup for the first time, marking an important debut and providing valuable competitive experience.

One of the key innovations of this year’s competition was the introduction of the cross-battle format in the junior category. In the team cross-battle event, Azerbaijan faced AIN 2, with the latter advancing to the next stage. In the final standings, AIN 2 secured first place, followed by Bulgaria in second and Israel in third.

During the senior competitions, gymnasts performed routines with hoop and ball on the second day, and with clubs and ribbon on the third day. Based on qualification results, the top 16 gymnasts advanced to the cross-battle stage, competing from the round of 16 through to the final.

Following an intense final phase, Israeli gymnast Daniela Munits claimed first place. Ukraine’s Taisiia Onofriichuk finished second, while Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli took third place. The medals were presented by Vice President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Altay Hasanov.

In the group exercises, Bulgaria won the gold medal, Israel secured silver, and AIN 2 earned bronze. The awards were presented by the President of European Gymnastics and Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov.

At the conclusion of the event, two special nominations were awarded. Sofia Raffaeli received the “Cross Battle Queen” title for her consistent participation and stable results in European Cup competitions. The Venezuelan team was honored with the “Breakthrough Team” award for their outstanding performance in group exercises as representatives of another continent.

Bringing together sport, artistry, and entertainment, the competition once again transformed the National Gymnastics Arena into a center of energy and enthusiasm. Interactive activities, audience engagement, and entertaining moments further enriched the event experience. Winners were also presented with valuable gifts by Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation’s sponsor, Smarton.
