From June 15 to 19, Tel Aviv (Israel) hosted another major sport event - the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships. At the Continental Championships hosted by Israel for the second time, spectators witnessed the interesting and intense competition of 286 gymnasts from 39 countries. This prestigious competition, for which our athletes prepared with great responsibility and excitement, was remembered with 4 Bronze medals won by the Azerbaijani Team. As reported, the first medal for our Team was won by Kamila Gafarova among juniors. Our athlete, who received 28,850 points from the judges, mounted the 3rd step of the podium for her confident performance with Clubs. Next day, the members of our National Team in Group exercises won another medal. Our National Team in Group exercises - Gullu Aghalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelyzaveta Luzan and Darya Sorokina won the Bronze medal in the All-Around competitions. They also successfully performed on the last day of the event. Azerbaijani Team in Group exercises added two more medals to our country’s medal collection. Our representatives won the Bronze medal in the Finals with separate Apparatus (5 Hoops, 3 Ribbons and 2 Balls).
Although, experienced members of our National Team - Zohra Aghamirova and Arzu Jalilova, representing our country in the Individual program, demonstrated confident and accurate preformances in the Finals, unfortunately, the points they received from the judges were not enough to be among the prize-winners. In the Finals - Zohra Aghamirova took the 6th with Clubs and 8th place with a Ball accordingly. Arzu Jalilova ranked 8th with a Ribbon in the Final.
