The 39th FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, which started on September 14 in Sofia (Bulgaria), has come to an end today. The competition of the strongest was remembered by historical medal of the Azerbaijani National Team in Group exercises consisting of Gullu Aghalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelyzaveta Luzan and Darya Sorokina. So, on the last day of the competition, our gymnasts, competing in the Finals, were awarded with the Bronze medal with 3 Ribbons & 2 Balls (30,750). It should be mentioned that this is the first medal in history of Azerbaijan Gymnastics won by our team in Group exercises at the Worlds.
In 2022, our team in Group exercises achieved successful results in a number of major competitions. This year, our representatives won 3 Bronze medals at the European Championships, 2 Gold & 1 Silver medals at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games.
It should be mentioned that a gymnast competing in the Individual competitions at the World Championships - Zohra Aghamirova, participant of the Summer Olympic Games Tokyo-2020, two-time silver medalist of the Summer Universiade, four-time Gold, Silver & Bronze medalist of the Islamic Solidarity Games, ranked 5th with a Ribbon, while she took the 6th place with a Hoop. Yesterday, our representative ranked 13th in the All-Around Final.
