The opening ceremony of the FIG “Gymnastics for All” Colloquium took place

The opening ceremony of the FIG “Gymnastics for All” Colloquium, held in our capital from April 2 to 4, has taken place. This colloquium is organized by Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation under the patronage of UNESCO. Over three days, international experts, coaches and gymnastics enthusiasts will come together to exchange experiences and discuss modern development strategies. The event will focus on topics such as the integration of sports into society, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and making gymnastics more accessible to a wider audience. With 52 representatives from 39 countries, this is the first colloquium of its kind to be held in our country.
The official opening of the colloquium was conducted by Rogerio Valerio, President of the FIG “Gymnastics for All” Committee, who welcomed all participants.
Speaking at the opening, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov highlighted that this discipline has been actively developing in Azerbaijan since 2013 and is now rapidly expanding both in Baku and the regions. He also emphasized the significance of the “Challenge” events being held. Additionally, during his meeting with Rogerio Valerio, the Minister discussed the development of gymnastics, the expansion of international cooperation and experience exchange in this field.
Mrs. Seymur Fataliyev, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, also addressed the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of inclusive and comprehensive development in gymnastics. He stated that organizing such an event provides broad opportunities for the wider dissemination of gymnastics and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, he noted that the discussions and experience exchanges taking place within this colloquium would make a significant contribution to the global expansion of gymnastics and the accessibility of sports for all. He reaffirmed the National Commission’s commitment to supporting projects related to the development of sports.
Ms. Fatima Shafizada, Secretary General of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of the seminars and discussions to be held during the colloquium for the future development of this gymnastics discipline.
Following the opening ceremony, the colloquium continued its work.
