On the third day of the Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus
World Cup held in our country, there was experienced a thrilling moment at
“Milli Gimnastika Arenasi” (National Gymnastics Arena). Thus, the
Azerbaijani flag was raised and the National anthem was sounded after the
Final performance of our gymnast - Nikita Simonov.
Having qualified for the Final on Rings, following the qualifications of the
first day, he succeeded to repeat the same result in the Final. Nikita (14,733)
mounted the first step of the podium leaving behind a number of strong
athletes.
Nikita’s performance, demonstrating complex elements with great
perseverance, was accompanied by loud applause and support from the
audience. Gymnastics fans were overwhelmed with the feeling of pride.
When our National Anthem was being sounded, all the fans sang the
Azerbaijani anthem loudly together with our gymnast until the end.
In today’s Finals, there were also defined the winners among men in Floor
exercises and on Parallel Bars, while women athletes revealed the winners on
Vault and Uneven Bars.
“AGF Trophy” was awarded to Rifda Irfanaluthfi from Indonesia and Nicola
Bartolini from Italy who received the highest execution score among women
and men accordingly.
In the tomorrow’s Finals, male gymnasts will demonstrate their programs on
Vault, Pommel Horse & Horizontal Bar, while female gymnasts will perform
on Balance Beam & Floor Exercises.
Two more gymnasts will represent Azerbaijan in the Finals. Member of our
National Team - Ivan Tikhonov - will compete on Horizontal Bar, while
Nazanin Teymurova will compete on Floor Exercises.
