Tense contest, excitement and Azerbaijani National anthem

On the last day of the World Cup, there was another remarkable moment at Milli Gimnastika Arenasi (National Gymnastics Arena). The members of our National Team, who won the Silver medal at yesterday’s All-Around competitions, today, having left behind all their rivals, managed to reach the highest step of the podium with 5 Hoops. Gymnasts within the team in group exercises - Gullu Aghalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelyzaveta Luzan and Darya Sorokina, having left behind the strong gymnasts, received 32,850 points from the judges and raised our flag and sang the National anthem within home walls. Emotional moments were experienced at “Milli Gimnastika Arenasi” (National Gymnastics Arena). As the National Anthem was completed, the fans, together with our gymnasts standing on the podium loudly sang the Anthem with great enthusiasm.
Today, our athletes completed the finals with 3 Ribbons and 2 Balls at the 5th place. The winners of the competition in the individual Apparatus Final were also defined.
Arzu Jalilova, Silver and Bronze medalist of the World Championships among juniors and Bronze medalist of the European Championships represented our country in the individual program. She took the 4th place with a Hoop (29,800 points), the 5th place a Ball (30,100 points) and the 6th place with a Ribbon (27,400 points).
Another Azerbaijani gymnast - Zohra Aghamirova, winner of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games, two-time Silver medalist of the Summer Universiade, participant of the Summer Olympic Games Tokyo-2020, took the 6th place in the final with a Hoop (29,350 points) and Clubs (28,250).
Traditionally, AGF Trophy Cup was presented to the gymnast and team in group exercises received the highest execution score from the judges at the World Cup. Arzu Jalilova, a member of the Azerbaijani National Team won the AGF Trophy Cup in the individual program, while the Italian team within group exercises became owners of the AGF Trophy Cup too.
Thus, in 2022, our capital successfully hosted the 5th international competition in one more gymnastics discipline. The World Cup, which was attended by 126 gymnasts from 31 countries with the enthusiastic applause and warm support of the fans, presented the spectators interesting moments and went down in history as the 9th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup organized in our country.
