The first World Championship in Trampoline held in Baku takes flight

On November 21, Baku concluded its first-ever World Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics, Tumbling, and Double Mini-Trampoline, which brought unforgettable moments to the National Gymnastics Arena.

The final day of the championships was highlighted by a silver medal from our representative Mikhail Malkin, European Champion and winner of the World Age Group Competitions. Competing against the world's top 8 tumblers, Malkin earned 76.300 points, placing second and raising our flag proudly on home soil. The gold went to Alexander Lisitsyn of the Russian Gymnastics Federation (RGF) with 80.000 points, while Kaden Brown from the USA took bronze with 75.400 points.

Over the course of four days, gymnasts from countries including Great Britain, Japan, China, RGF, Sweden, Belarus, France, and the USA claimed world champion titles in individual and synchronized trampoline, tumbling, and double mini-trampoline events - both in finals and team competitions.

This was the second World Championship hosted by Azerbaijan in 2021, bringing together more than 250 gymnasts from 33 countries.

During the closing ceremony, the FIG flag was officially handed over by the Azerbaijani side to Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), who then passed it on to the next host country, Bulgaria.

As with all international events organized during the pandemic, the championships were held with the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

To ensure the safety of all participants, the Local Organizing Committee implemented strict health and safety protocols, minimizing social interaction and following all FIG guidelines and recommendations.

As the Local Organizing Committee, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all state bodies and partner institutions that contributed to the success of this event.

Congratulations to everyone on this outstanding achievement!
