On November 9, the European Aerobic Gymnastics Championship was held for the first time at the Ganja Sports Palace. The 1st European Championship juniors and U 15 brought together 380 athletes from 20 countries. The participants competed in individual, trio, group, and aerodance programs.
On the first day of the competition, gymnasts showcased their routines in the qualification rounds. As part of the event, performances harmonized with music, colorful shows, and special dance numbers were presented to the audience. Spectators gathered in the arena watched these performances with great interest, experiencing both entertaining and inspiring moments. The event once again demonstrated Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to the development of gymnastics.
During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Youth and Sports, President of European Gymnastics Farid Gayibov, congratulated everyone on the occasion of Victory Day and State Flag Day. He paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs, wished their souls peace, and extended his best wishes for health and happiness to the veterans. The Minister highlighted Azerbaijan’s achievements in gymnastics, noting that these successes are the result of the special attention and care given to the sport by President Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. Farid Gayibov also emphasized the importance of hosting such prestigious events in our country and wished success to all participating athletes.
It should be noted that gymnasts from Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Moldova, Slovakia, Spain, Türkiye, Ukraine, and host country Azerbaijan are currently competing for the championship title at the Ganja Sports Palace. The competition, which started today, will conclude on November 11.
