On November 15 & 16, there was hosted biennial General Assembly of the European Union of Gymnastics in the City of Sofia, Bulgaria.  

In this event, Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation was represented by its Secretary General - Nurlana Mammadzada, Executive Committee member - Mariana Vasileva, International Relations manager - Mehman Aliyev and Technical Director - Natalya Bulanova. 

A number of important decisions were made at the General Assembly with a participation of 47 member federations. A number of changes to the Statutes of the organization and its renaming can be considered as the main decisions made for the future development of gymnastics. Afterwards, European Union of Gymnastics will be called European Gymnastics. This change will come into force on April 1, 2020.

It should be mentioned that Azerbaijani, Farid Gayibov who was AGF Secretary General within 2006-2017,  is the Head of “European Gymnastics”.

The next meeting of the General Assembly will be held by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation in Albufeira in December 2021.
