The excitement of the 15th European TeamGym Championships has come to an end

 

The final stage of the 15th European TeamGym Championship, held at the National Gymnastics Arena from October 16-19, has come to a close. By the end of the four-day competition, winners were determined in both the junior and senior categories. The competitions were filled with exciting moments for everyone.

In the final, a total of 34 teams competed, including 6 junior women's teams, 5 junior mixed teams, 5 junior men's teams, 6 senior women's teams, 6 senior mixed teams, and 6 senior men's teams.

In the initial final stage, the winners in the junior category were announced. In this category, Denmark and Sweden won gold and silver, Iceland won gold and bronze, while Norway and the UK teams took home bronze medals.

On the second final day, the winners in the senior category were awarded. In this category, Iceland and Denmark won gold, Sweden won silver and bronze, Norway won bronze, and the UK teams secured silver medals.

Immediately after the overall final, the most outstanding gymnasts throughout the 15th European TeamGym Championship were individually awarded. Four gymnasts from the Swedish national team, five from the Danish national team, two from the Icelandic national team, and one from the Norwegian national team received the "All-Stars" award.

SmartScoring, the global partner of the European Championship and the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, recognized gymnasts who became a source of inspiration for athletes and the general public with remarkable stories. Kamran Ramazanov, the CEO of SmartScoring, presented the "SmartScoring Shooting Star" award to Agnes Arvidson from the Swedish national women's team and Jo Peixinho from the Portuguese national men's team.

Before the closing ceremony, representatives of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation gave a special performance with an entertaining show.

In the end, the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Nurlana Mammadzade, handed over the European Gymnastics flag to the President of European Gymnastics, Mr. Farid Gayibov. In turn, Mr. Gayibov passed the flag to Solisma Sonia, the Technical Director of the Finnish Gymnastics Federation, announcing that the next European TeamGym Championship will be held in Espoo, Finland, in 2026.

Thus, the closing ceremony concluded.

Throughout the competition, spectators demonstrated unity just like the athletes. Fans created an incredible atmosphere in the stands by wearing the same outfits as the teams they supported. The shared enthusiasm between the teams and the fans highlighted the team spirit and solidarity throughout the competition. The support of the audience gave athletes extra strength, making the event even more memorable.

Finally, all the delegates, athletes, and spectators who visited our country emphasized that Baku and the National Gymnastics Arena were beautiful and modern, and that people were very friendly and hospitable. They also noted the special attention given to gymnastics and praised the high level of the event’s organization.

Throughout the championship, the mascot of European Gymnastics, "Luigi," supported the athletes, motivated them, and held fun competitions with the spectators.
