The gymnastics and sports community is deeply saddened by the passing of Zuleykha Hajiyeva at the age of 103. She was one of the first prominent representatives of Azerbaijani gymnastics, a Master of Sport of the USSR, an Honored Artist, and a distinguished figure who made a significant contribution to Azerbaijani sport.

Zuleykha Hajiyeva was an outstanding personality who left a remarkable legacy in both Azerbaijani sport and culture. A seven-time Azerbaijani gymnastics champion between 1941 and 1948, she played an important role in the early development of women’s gymnastics in the country.

For many years, Zuleykha Hajiyeva was also one of the well-known voices of Azerbaijani radio, hosting programs such as “Morning Gymnastics,” “Poetry Minutes,” “Good Evening,” and others with her distinctive voice.

Zuleykha Hajiyeva’s rich and meaningful life, dedicated to sport and art, will remain an inspiration for future generations.

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Zuleykha Hajiyeva on her passing and wishes them strength and patience during this difficult time.
