“The achieved results show the development level of Trampoline Gymnastics in Azerbaijan”

On February 15 & 17, “Milli Gimnastika Arenasi” (National Gymnastics Arena) organized coaching courses in Trampoline Gymnastics for the 1st level (for coaches working with gymnasts aged 5-7) led by Dmitri Poliaroush, a member of the Trampoline Gymnastics Technical Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). The course was conducted on the basis of the education program of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF). The Press Service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) interviewed a Belarusian expert, Olympic coach, participant of two Olympic Games, six-time World Champion, seven-time European Champion, 20-time World Cup winner in Trampoline Gymnastics. We present the interview to our readers.
You’re welcome to Azerbaijan. Please, tell us more about the Trampoline Gymnastics coaching courses held in our capital.
I am invited to Baku to hold the coaching courses. I think this is a wonderful initiative shown by AGF. This course is a good opportunity to educate the coaches. Of course, this will also contribute to the development of Trampoline Gymnastics in the country. I hope that the participants of the course will be content with the courses. I also hope that they will use their knowledge and skills to develop Trampoline Gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
As a representative of the FIG, we would like to know your opinion about the development of Trampoline Gymnastics in the world.
Trampoline is being developed in more than 50 countries around the world. As an Olympic sport, it has been included into the program for the Sydney Olympic Games since 2000. There is no doubt that a number of trampoline gymnasts is growing across the world day by day. Development is taking place in all continents, including Africa. Of course, compared to the 90s, we can observe great development. This sport has become more popular in the world. An increase in the number of coaches and specialists had a positive impact on the development of Trampoline Gymnastics sports in the world.
How do you assess the development of Trampoline Gymnastics in Azerbaijan?
Trampoline Gymnastics is a new developing sport in Azerbaijan. Here, we observe the further development of Trampoline Gymnastics. We can say it according to the results achieved. A good example is the World Cup completed recently. The representative of Azerbaijan among women was honored with the second place. This is the first medal won in the World Cup in history of the Azerbaijani Women's Trampoline Gymnastics. Of course, this is an excellent result. This result shows development level of Trampoline Gymnastics in Azerbaijan. This is the successful work of the federation in this discipline. If the results are successful, it means that everything is going well. There is progress in this area. I hope that Azerbaijan will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games and take part in the Olympics.
We would like to know your impression about Azerbaijan.
I come here every year. I am a friend of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan is my friend. I like being here very much. Everything is beautiful here, the people are hospitable, all of them are nice, kind, and, at the same time hardworking. This surprises me a lot. When I am at the federation, I can see that dozens of people work non-stop for many days. I also see coaches working with children when I enter the gym. Of course, all this makes a good impression on a person. I would like to say that, it has always been a pleasure for me not only to come to Baku, but also to see the successful work of the federation. As the saying goes, the results speak for themselves and not only in Trampoline Gymnastics.
As an athlete with big titles, what would your advice to young Trampoline gymnasts?
First of all, my advice is, to love what they do and be able to enjoy it. Otherwise, they will not succeed.
