We present an interview with Salome Pajava, a renowned rhythmic gymnastics representative of Georgia, who visited Baku to conduct masterclasses for the participants of the 3rd International “Ojaq Cup” held from October 3-6 at the National Gymnastics Arena.
Could you tell us about the masterclasses in Baku?
– It’s the first time I’m conducting masterclasses in Baku. It’s a great honor for me. I’m grateful to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation for inviting me here and entrusting me with holding masterclasses for both Azerbaijani and foreign gymnasts. I will try to share my experience with the children and teach them interesting elements. I think they will enjoy and have fun during these masterclasses.
Baku has almost become your second home. What are your thoughts on that?
– Baku feels like my home. I love coming here. I’ve visited so many times that I’ve lost count. Each time I’m overwhelmed with emotions. When I walked into the hall today, joyful memories came flooding back. The most unforgettable moment was the magnificent First European Games held here. I always say that Baku is the city where competitions should be held because the organization is always at the highest level.
I truly enjoy coming here - Baku is warm and welcoming, and I have many dear friends. It’s always a pleasure to be here.
What can you say about Azerbaijan’s young athletes?
– I attended the competition today and I must say that the level of the gymnasts is growing. You have many talented gymnasts, and a strong new generation is emerging. I hope they reach great heights. I see Azerbaijan rising more and more each year, and this is thanks to the efforts of the coaches and the federation.
