“AGF Trophy” International Tournament marked by 14 medals for team Azerbaijan

From April 14 to 16, our capital successfully hosted another international competition.
The “AGF Trophy” international tournament, held for the third time in Azerbaijan, welcomed 119 athletes from 14 countries. For the first time, senior gymnasts joined juniors in the competition, adding even more excitement to the event.

It was particularly encouraging to see strong performances from Azerbaijani representatives in both age categories and in both individual and group routines.

The first international rhythmic gymnastics tournament of the year held in our country stood out with a total of 14 medals won by Team Azerbaijan—7 gold and 7 silver—across junior and senior categories in both individual and group events.

Our experienced gymnast Zohra Aghamirova, who recently won the 34th International Grand Prix in France, demonstrated exceptional skill in the individual program. She contributed five gold medals to our team’s tally, winning the all-around as well as in each apparatus (ball, hoop, clubs, and ribbon). In the team event, she shared the joy of victory with her teammate Alina Gozelova.

Another gold medal came from our junior group team, as Govhar Ibrahimova, Sakinakhanim Ismayilzada, Medina Aslanova, Ilaha Bahadirova, Ayan Sadigova, and Zahra Jafarova delivered a strong performance in the 5 balls routine.

Among the seniors, Alina Gozelova lived up to expectations in the individual program, winning silver medals in the all-around, hoop, ball, and ribbon routines.

In the junior team competition, members Shams Agahuseynova and Nuray Ahmadzada secured second place.
Our junior group team—Govhar Ibrahimova, Sakinakhanim Ismayilzada, Medina Aslanova, Ilaha Bahadirova, Ayan Sadigova, and Zahra Jafarova—also earned two more silver medals in the all-around and in the 5 ropes routine.

In the final of the clubs routine, individual junior gymnast Leyli Aghazada placed sixth.
Our second junior group team finished 8th in the all-around and 7th in the 5 balls routine.

Additionally, members of our senior group team—Gullu Aghalarzada, Leman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelizaveta Luzan, and Darya Sorokina—performed routines with 5 hoops and with 3 ribbons and 2 balls.

It is worth noting that this tournament also served as preparation for our senior athletes ahead of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, which will be held in Baku from April 21 to 23.

We congratulate all the winners and medalists and wish them continued success in their sports careers!
