"Ocaq Sport" Club brings everyone together around the Festive Fire

20 March 2024

On the eve of Novruz Bayram, one of the most ancient national holidays of the Azerbaijani people, "Ocaq Sport" Club delighted gymnastics enthusiasts with a special celebration. On the evening of Ilakhir Charshanba (the last Tuesday before Novruz, also known as "Torpaq Charshanbasi"), "Ocaq Sport" Club organized a spring festival titled "Ocaq's Novruz Bayram" at the Baku Olympic Sports Complex.

The event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, and his deputy, Mariana Vasileva.

As guests arrived, they were greeted by traditional Novruz characters—Bahar Gizi, Kosa, and Kechal, brought to life by talented gymnasts. These beloved figures spread joy, especially among children. Kosa and Kechal engaged in a friendly intellectual competition, asking the audience questions about "Ocaq Sport" Club's activities. They also played the traditional egg-cracking game with the young participants and awarded gifts to those who answered correctly.

Athletes and coaches representing various gymnastics disciplines showcased not only their gymnastic skills but also their acting talents.

The spring-themed celebration featured spectacular performances by club gymnasts, highlighting Azerbaijan’s traditions, culture, music, and national dances.

The event, filled with an atmosphere of friendship, fun, and joy, was made even more entertaining by the club's mascot, Oci, who spread laughter and excitement among the children.

At the end of the celebration, Vafa Bakarova, Chairperson of the Club’s Board, invited all guests and members of the gymnastics family to gather around a large Novruz bonfire lit in the courtyard of the complex.

On behalf of the gymnastics community, we extend our heartfelt Novruz greetings to everyone, wishing health, prosperity, and the spirit of spring for all!
