The year 2025 will be remembered as a landmark period for Azerbaijani gymnastics. Throughout the year, our gymnasts achieved successful results both locally and on the international stage.
One of the most memorable moments of the year was Seljan Mahsudova’s outstanding performance at the Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup in Cottbus, Germany. She rewrote the World record during the competition, etching her name in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijani gymnastics. At the same time, by finishing 5th at the World Championships, she achieved a historic first for Azerbaijan in trampoline gymnastics.
Another significant achievement came from Tofig Aliyev at the World Games held in Chengdu, China. A member of our national tumbling team, he successfully performed one of the most difficult combinations — a triple somersault with a triple twist — opening a new chapter in gymnastics history.
Our women’s artistic gymnast Albina Aliyeva also stood out in 2025, becoming the first to advance to a World Championship final.
During 2025, our gymnasts won a total of 65 gold, 85 silver, and 80 bronze medals at World and European Championships and Championships, World and European Cups, as well as prestigious international tournaments.
European Cups – 10 medals
European Championships – 9 medals
World Games – 3 medals
World Cups – 24 medals
32nd World Summer Universiade – 3 medals
III CIS Games – 14 medals
International tournaments – 167 medals
In addition, Azerbaijani gymnasts claimed overall titles in World Cup series across different disciplines. In men’s artistic gymnastics, Nikita Simonov; in acrobatic gymnastics, the men’s pair Murad Rafiyev and Daniel Abbasov; and in tumbling, Tofig Aliyev became overall World Cup series winners of the season.
The year 2025 was also marked by prestigious international competitions hosted in our country. The historic city of Ganja hosted the European Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics for the first time. Competitions were successfully held for juniors and athletes under 15 on November 9–11, and for seniors on November 14–16. Meanwhile, the capital Baku hosted 4 World Cups across different gymnastics disciplines, 1 European Cup, 2 international tournaments, and 1 international “Challenge” competition.
Throughout the year, numerous masterclasses were organized for our athletes at the National Gymnastics Arena. At the same time, Azerbaijani gymnastics specialists shared their rich experience with athletes and coaches from different continents through courses and seminars held abroad.
During 2025, teams from various countries visited the National Gymnastics Arena for training camps.
The year was also marked by another significant event. On November 29, at the European Gymnastics Congress held in the Czech Republic, Farid Gayibov was re-elected as President of the organization.
We express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the achievements of 2025.
We sincerely congratulate you all on the New Year and wish even greater success in 2026!
