4 MEDALS FROM BELGIUM AND CROATIA AND 5 FIFTH PLACES OF GERMAN GRAND PRIX

Azerbaijani gymnasts taking part in the Happy Cup-2009 international tournament in Belgian Ghent have won three medals.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, our country was represented in Belgium by two junior gymnasts Aysha Mustafayeva (born in 1996) and Mansura Baghiyeva (born in 1997). Mansura demonstrated more successful performance and took the 2nd place in the all-around with 65.025 points. According to the gymnasts’ coach Nurlana Alizada, a 12-year-old representative of the Republican Complex Sports School acquired a right to take part in all the finals, and in one of them – with a hoop – she won the bronze medal.

Another gymnast Aysha Mustafayeva also won a bronze medal in the final of an exercise with a rope. In all other finals, she gave the 5th result, and took the 6th place in the all-around.

Zeynab Javadli, taking part in the traditional international competitions in Croatia, was also content with the third place during the festive weekend.

The bronze medalist in a team competition of the World Championships took part in the all-around program, and having received 93.475 points for all four competitions in total, took the 3rd place. The victory in Croatia was celebrated by a World Champion in a team competition Darya Dmitriyeva from Russia.

Meanwhile, Zeynab’s team-mates Aliya Garayeva and Anna Gurbanova were competing in the Grand Prix final held in Berlin, and their best result was the 5th places.

A World Champion Yevgeniya Kanayeva from Russia became the Grand Prix’s overall winner. She won in the all-around, as well as in four separate finals.
