5 GOLD MEDALS WITH 6 POINTS BREAKAWAY

An Azerbaijani gymnast Anna Gurbanova became the winner of the Slovenian Challenge international tournament held in Ljubljana.

With obvious more than 6 points advantage over the gymnast from Japan – she took the first place in the individual all-around and fairly won the gold medal. She also had no equals with separate apparatus - with a rope, a hoop, clubs and a ribbon, where she won another 4 medals as well.

The club’s official site, under the aegis of which the events were being held, expressed its opinion regarding Gurbanova’s result in the following way: “A bronze medalist (in a team) of the last year’s European and World championships proved to be well-known gymnast from Azerbaijan. Her 5 gold medals should not raise any doubts. 6 points breakaway in the all-around is a class index, and the last performance with a ribbon is a brilliant talent and progress of the gymnast from the coasts of the Caspian Sea. Having such a gymnast in the composition of its team, Azerbaijan has a right to reckon for successful performances at large-scale events of 2009 – the European Championships to be held in Baku in May and the World Championships to be held in Japan in September.”

And in the near-term outlook, Anna Gurbanova will take part in pre-final Grand-Prix which will be held on October 11-12 in Berlin.

And the World Cup final, which is according to the level of significance this year’s third gymnastics tournament after the Olympic Games and European Championships, to be held this week-end. This tournament will take place in Benidorm – in the center of Spanish Valencia. Along with the world’s 7 strong gymnasts, the participant of the Olympic Games in Beijing, Aliya Garayeva, will also take part in this event. Her first apparatus will be a rope and she will perform with it under the sequence number 4 on October 4.
