ALIYA GARAYEVA’S GOLD MEDALS

An international tournament in rhythmic gymnastics has been held in Brazilian Sao Paulo city.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, our country was represented by Aliya Garayeva in this tournament. She won the first places in all kinds of the program and became the competitions’ overall champion.

“San Paulo city is famous as the third largest city in the world after Mexico and Tokyo. The brightest and most colorful carnivals are held along its streets every year. And, now, Sao Paulo is also famous as a venue of rhythmic gymnastics competitions where I became a winner,” Garayeva said. I am going to Croatia now to take part in the one-and-a-half-month training camp, and, together with my team-mates, to prepare there for the World Championships to be held in Moscow in September.

In the meanwhile, the Open All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament has come to the end in another Russian city - Kislovodsk. The best result among young Azerbaijani gymnasts performing in the competitions was achieved by Jala Piriyeva. She won the 3rd place with a rope in the competitions of gymnasts born in 2000. And an 11-year-old Emiliya Baghiyeva took the 4th place in the all-around and won a special prize “For the will to win”.
