ALIYA GARAYEVA TAKES THE SIXTH PLACE IN THE USA

An Azerbaijani gymnast Aliya Garayeva has taken the 6th place in the “LA Lights Tournament of Champions” all-around competition held in Los Angeles.
According to the press-service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the total result constituted 62.125 points after the last performance with a rope. By the way, Garayeva also won the 6th place with this apparatus, having received 16.375 points. And best of all she performed with a ribbon – the 4th place (15.7 points).
As to the winners of the competition, a Ukrainian Anna Bessonova has confirmed wearing of the world champion’s crown. She was followed by another champion, but this time the European champion Yevgeniya Kanayeva from Russia and Lyubov Charkashina from Belarus.
Meanwhile, an Azerbaijani team in group exercises has completed its training in the training camp in Baku, headed by a Bulgarian specialist Mariana Vasileva. She coached a silver and bronze medalist of the European championships Filipa Siderova. She also led the Bulgarian junior group team to silver medals during Euro-2007 held in Baku.
According to the coach, training camp is very important and necessary on the threshold of the European championships to be held in Italy in June.
“Therefore, I proposed to hold next coaching at “Levski” club in Sofia in February-March,” M.Vasileva reported to the press-service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation. “There have been created all conditions for training and we should take advantage of it.”
“I think Dina Gorina and Leyla Shamilova will join to the main team composition (Vafa Huseynova, Anna Bitiyeva, Valeriya Yegay, Alina Trepina and Anastasiya Prasolova).”
“I can say that it’s a good team, exercises are under reconsideration, new elements are being added to them, in one word, we’ll work and develop.”
It should be mentioned that along with the seniors and group teams, the juniors will also perform in the European championships. In this connection, the coaches of a national team called 9 gymnasts to the examination and two-week training camp in Baku. These gymnasts are: Saida Abdullayeva, Jamila Huseynova and Esmira Orujova (all born in 1993), Nigar Abdusalimova, Sabina Abbasova, Ayelita Khalafova, Yevgeniya Jidkova and Nargiz Aliyeva (all born in 1994) and Kamila Mammadova (born in 1995).
