AN AZERBAIJANI GYMNAST BECOMES THE BOSPHORUS CUP’S PRIZE-WINNER

The traditional “Bosphorus Cup” International Tournament in artistic gymnastics has been held in Istanbul.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, three our sportsmen performed at the competitions.

The best result was shown by a junior Elvin Aghadadayev who won the 3rd place in the final on a pommel horse. He received 13.75 points and lost only to sportsmen from Iran and Turkey.

In the all-around, Elvin took the 4th place with 77.1 points. The first three places were won by Turkish gymnasts. He also entered into the quartet of the best gymnasts in the finals on rings and parallel bars. The best result of Ruslan Balakishiyev, who also performed among the juniors, was the 7th place on rings. The same place was also taken by Ughur Khalilbayli who became the 7th in the final on a pommel horse.

In the meanwhile, another Azerbaijani gymnast Shakir Shikhaliyev has taken part in the international tournament in Austria. He took the 18th place with a total 79.4 points among 39 competitors in the individual all-around. This tournament was a test nature before the World Championships to be held in Rotterdam in the middle of October.
