A record number of “Golds” at the European Championships

On October 18-22, there was held the 31st Senior & Junior European Championships in Bulgarian Varna. This year’s Continental Championships - attended by 105 Senior & 144 Juniors from 21 countries - was marked by a high result and a record number of Gold medals for Azerbaijan. The members of our National Team representing Azerbaijan at the competition, literally managed to win the Europeans. At the European Championships, our representatives in Acrobatic Gymnastics grabbed 7 “Gold” & 2 “Silvers”. 
At the tournament, our country was represented by Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli (Mixed Pair), Nazrin Farmanova, Aynur Yusufova, Lale Huseynova (Women’s Trio), Daniel Abbasov & Murad Rafiyev (Men’s Pair) and Nazrin Zeyniyeva, Zahra Rashidova, Anahita Bashiri (Women’s Trio among Juniors).
Our experienced athletes, who dazzled with their brilliant performances on the Varna’s Floor - Silver medalists of the World / European Championships - Mixed Pair consisting of Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli, managed to add 3 “Golds” of the European Championships (Dynamic - 28.910, Balance - 29.180 & All-Around - 86.620) to our medal box. 
On the way to the “Gold”, our Mixed Pair surpassed the representatives of Ukraine & Germany, who ranked 2nd / 3rd respectively in all three exercises. 
Two-time Bronze medalists of the World Championships and European Champions among Juniors - Daniel Abbasov & Murad Rafiyev (Men’s Pair) - repeated the success of their teammates in Varna and reached to the top three times. Our representatives left behind all their rivals in Dynamic (27.510), Balance Exercises (28.230) & All-Around (82.370). 
Our Men’s Pair surpassed the runners-up (Spain) & Bronze medalists (Great Britain) in Balance exercises, while in Dynamic Exercises and All-Around, they left behind athletes from Spain & Portugal. With this result, our sportsmen in Mixed Pair / Men’s Pair - managed to win the title of the European Champions among Seniors for the first time in history of Azerbaijani Gymnastics.
Junior athletes also managed to prove themselves with their professional & confident performances in Varna. Nazrin Zeyniyeva, Zahra Rashidova, Anahita Bashiri, competing among Juniors, justified the expectations by winning 1 Gold & 2 Silver medals. Athletes, winning the first medal for our team in Dynamic Exercises (27.440), repeated this success by taking second place in the All-Around (83.690). Having left behind the representatives of Great Britain & the Netherlands in Balance Exercises, our gymnasts managed to surpass them by collecting 28.450 points. 
Unfortunately, our Women’s Group among Seniors, who participated in the Continental Championships with a new line-up, did not succeed in winning a medal. At the Qualifications, they took the 10th place (25.360) in Balance Exercises, while they ranked 11th in Dynamic Exercises (24.670) & All-Around (72.370).
