At the 29th Congress of European Gymnastics held in Albufeira, Portugal on December 2 and 3, Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov was re-elected as President of European Gymnastics with a 100 percent majority. It should be noted that F. Gayibov has been leading European Gymnastics since 2017.
Elections to the Technical Committees and commissions of the organization were also held within the framework of the Congress.
Yevgeniya Vilyayeva (international-level judge), nominated by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), was elected as a member of the Technical Committee of European Gymnastics with a 73.68 percent majority of votes for rhythmic gymnastics, Inara Israfilbayova (international-level judge) was elected as a member of the “TeamGym” category with a 73.68 percent majority of votes, and Ruslan Eyvazov (national team coach) was elected as a member of the Gymnastics for All category with a 68.42 percent majority of votes. It should be noted that this is the first time in the history of gymnastics that Azerbaijani representatives have been elected to the Technical Committee of a European organization.
For your information, the AGF has been closely cooperating with relevant European and international gymnastics organizations since its re-establishment. Last year, the AGF's sports director and our representative Natalya Bulanova was elected a member of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee, and Siyana Vasileva, coach of the Azerbaijani national rhythmic gymnastics team, was elected a member of the FIG Athletes' Commission.
