Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation started the First World Cup of the Year
On February 22-23, the Opening Ceremony of the "FIG Trampoline Gymnastics & Tumbling World Cup, AGF Trophy" took place at the National Gymnastics Arena.
The competition featured the strongest Trampoline and Tumbling gymnasts from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Mozambique, Spain, Japan, AIN (Neutral Athletes), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the USA, Algeria, Mexico and Poland, competing in Individual, Synchronized and Mixed Synchronized programs.
The main feature distinguishing this year’s World Cup from previous editions is the introduction of the Mixed Synchronized program in Trampoline Gymnastics for the first time. Representing our National Team in Trampoline Gymnastics were Seljan Mahsudova, Ali Niftaliyev, Mehdi Aliyev, Shafiga Humbatova and Nijat Mirzayev. They also showcased their skills in the Mixed Synchronized program for the first time.
In Tumbling, Tofig Aliyev, Adil Hajizada, Huseyn Asadullayev and Aleksey Karatashov represented Azerbaijan. Notably, Aleksey Karatashov competed in the Senior Category for the first time this year.
During the opening ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov emphasized that the prestigious gymnastics competitions held annually in Azerbaijan and the achievements of our athletes are the result of the continuous support and attention given to the development of this sport by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice President, President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Mehriban Aliyeva.
The minister also highlighted that Azerbaijan hosts a World Cup in gymnastics every year, contributing significantly to the development of the sport in the country.
Following the speeches, the World Cup was officially declared open and the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played.
Notably, in today’s qualification phases, members of our National Team advanced to the finals.
●    In Tumbling, Adil Hajizada and Tofig Aliyev secured their spots.
●    In Trampoline Gymnastics (Individual Category), Seljan Mahsudova qualified for the final.
●    In Mixed Synchronized, Seljan Mahsudova and Ali Niftaliyev advanced to the final.
●    In Women’s Synchronized, Shafiga Humbatova and Seljan Mahsudova secured a place in the final round.
