Baku successfully hosted another international gymnastics competition on May 21-23, 2021.
This time, Milli Gimnastika Arenası (National Gymnastics Arena) has welcomed pre-junior and junior aerobic gymnasts from different countries of the world.
About 200 athletes from 18 countries competed for the first place in the 9th Aerobic Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions held in Azerbaijan for the first time. Gymnasts performed in 12-14 and 15-17 age groups in Individual Women and Individual Men programs, as well as within Mixed Pair, Trios, Groups. Athletes aged 15-17 also tested their strength in Aero Dance program.
Despite the fact that the development of this gymnastics discipline in our country has begun in late 2013, our representatives in Aerobic Gymnastics participating at such a largescale competition for the first time, managed to reach the finals within 3 programs.
For the first time in history of Azerbaijani gymnastics, our athlete Maryam Topchubashova, who competed in the Individual program of this major competition among the athletes aged 12-14, won the Bronze medal. Maryam and her teammates Fidan Ibrahimova, Evelina Kozlovskaya, Leyla Ahmadova and Aylin Aliyeva, who competed within Group, ranked 5th in the final. Sara Alikhanli, Sanam Kazimova and Aliya Ismayilova, who performed in the Trio Final, took the 7th place.
In addition, another Trio consisting of Maryam Topchubashova, Fidan Ibrahimova and Evelina Kozlovskaya, who performed among the gymnasts aged 12-14, became 10th. Dilara Gurbanova, who competed in the Individual program within the 15-17 age category at the competitions, ranked 16th, while Leyla Abdullazade, Arzu Aghayeva, Rovshana Baghirzade, Leyla Bezhanova and Emiliya Mahmudova, who executed their performances in the group program, took the 10th place.
