From March 6 to 9, the National Gymnastics Arena hosted thrilling, intense and highly professional performances by artistic gymnastics stars.
Over four days, men and women gymnasts showcased their skills on various apparatus.
A total of seven athletes represented Azerbaijan in the competition - six men and one woman. Our experienced gymnast and one of the key stars of the National Team, Nikita Simonov, once again met expectations. Fresh off a Silver Medal win in Cottbus, Germany, he secured the Gold Medal in the Rings exercise.
Other members of our National Team also put on strong performances: Murad Agharzayev and Deniz Aliyeva finished seventh in the Vault, while Ivan Tikhonov placed eighth on the Horizontal Bar. Unfortunately, the young member of our team, Nazanin Teymurova, was unable to compete due to an injury.
As part of the competition, the AGF Trophy was awarded to the gymnasts who achieved the highest execution scores in the qualification rounds. Among the men, Nazar Chepurnyi from Ukraine won the Trophy, while among the women, Greta Mayer from Hungary was honored with the prestigious award.
