The Milli Gymnastics Arena once again witnessed the thrilling and captivating performances of world stars on February 22-23. For two days, athletes from 15 countries competed for the championship title.
Our country was represented in the World Cup by Seljan Mahsudova, Shafiga Humbatova, Ali Niftaliyev, Mehdi Aliyev and Nijat Mirzayev in Trampoline Gymnastics, while Tofig Aliyev, Adil Hajizada, Aleksey Karatashov and Huseyn Asadullayev competed in the Tumbling competitions.
The first day of the World Cup featured the qualification stage, where members of our National Team successfully advanced to the finals. In Tumbling, Tofig Aliyev and Adil Hajizada secured their spots, while in Trampoline Gymnastics, Seljan Mahsudova qualified in the individual program. Additionally, in the Mixed Synchronized program, Seljan Mahsudova and Ali Niftaliyev advanced to the final, along with Shafiga Humbatova and Seljan Mahsudova in the Women’s Synchronized program, and Mehdi Aliyev and Nijat Mirzayev in the Men’s Synchronized program.
This year, Aleksey Karatashov competed in the senior age category for the first time and delivered a strong performance in the qualification stage. However, as only two athletes from each country could advance to the final, he was unable to secure a spot in the final round.
Our representatives brought joy in the final stage as well. In tumbling, our athletes won two medals for our country. Adil Hajizada clinched first place with a score of 28.800, while Tofig Aliyev secured second place with 27.200 points. In Trampoline Gymnastics, Seljan Mahsudova and Ali Niftaliyev claimed third place in the Mixed Synchronized program with a score of 47.990.
During the competition, the AGF Trophy Cup was awarded to the athletes who achieved the highest execution scores in the qualification stage. The cup was presented to Stanislau Yaskievich (AIN) in Trampoline Gymnastics and Aleksandra Liyamina in Tumbling.
Thus, the first World Cup of the year has come to an end. We congratulate the winners and wish all athletes success in their upcoming competitions!
