This time, rhythmic gymnasts came together in the city of Lankaran.
Following the Azerbaijan Championship and the Baku Championship held in the capital, on May 6, the Lankaran Olympic Sports Complex opened its doors for the 7th Interregional Cup, welcoming rhythmic gymnasts for the very first time.

A total of 36 gymnasts from “Ocaq Sport” Club’s Zaqatala, Shamakhi, and Agdash branches, as well as representatives from Absheron, Nakhchivan, Masalli, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Ismayilli, Gusar, Goychay Olympic Sports Complexes, and Mingachevir “Kur” Olympic Training Center, competed for the championship title.

Regional gymnasts competed in three age categories:

Children (born in 2013–2015)

Pre-teens (born in 2011–2012)

Juniors (born in 2008–2010)

The children competed with freehand routines, clubs, and ribbons; the pre-teens with freehand, ball, and clubs; and the juniors with hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. It’s worth noting that this is the first regional competition organized by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) in 2023. Last year, AGF held three competitions in different regions, reflecting its consistent focus on developing gymnastics beyond the capital. Organizing such events in the regions plays a significant role in enhancing athletes' professionalism, promoting the sport, and increasing public engagement with gymnastics.
