The World Cup in artistic gymnastics was held from February 15 to 18 in Cairo, Egypt. In the first competition of the year, which serves as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, our country was represented by members of the national team: Nikita Simonov, Ivan Tikhonov, Rasul Ahmadzade, and Mensum Safarov in the men's category, and Nazanin Teymurova in the women's category.
Nikita Simonov achieved the best result among our team members. After finishing 3rd in the qualification round for the rings routine, he placed 6th in the final with a score of 14.433.
Another team member, Ivan Tikhonov, finished 21st on the rings, 25th on the vault, and 46th on the pommel horse.
Rasul Ahmadzade, competing among seniors for the first time, placed 44th in the floor exercises, 47th on the parallel bars, and 48th on the pommel horse.
Mensum Safarov finished 42nd on the rings and 52nd in the floor exercises.
In the women's competition, Nazanin Teymurova placed 33rd in the floor exercises and 39th on the balance beam.
Our athletes will participate in another World Cup scheduled to take place from February 22 to 25 in Cottbus, Germany.
