From July 11 to 13, our gymnasts participated in the "Scalabis Cup" international tournament in Santarém, Portugal, competing in trampoline gymnastics, double mini-trampoline, and tumbling.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Tofiq Aliyev, Bilal Gurbanov, Adil Hajizade, and Aleksey Karatashov in tumbling, while Ali Niftaliyev, Ammar Bakhshaliyev, Ayan Shabanova, Samira Huseynova, Nijat Mirzayev, Ibrahim Mustafazade, and Farhad Mustafayev represented our country in trampoline gymnastics. Additionally, Omar Gasimli, Farhad Valiyev, and Huseyn Abbasov competed in both trampoline and double mini-trampoline disciplines.
Tumbling
Our tumblers finished the competition with 3 gold and 1 silver medal.
• Adil Hajizade (29.500) and Aleksey Karatashov (97.000) each secured a gold medal.
• Tofiq Aliyev (29.100) placed second, earning silver.
• Additionally, Tofiq Aliyev, Adil Hajizade, and Bilal Gurbanov claimed another gold medal in the team competition.
Trampoline
Our national team also excelled in the trampoline events:
• Huseyn Abbasov (53.700), Ammar Bakhshaliyev (51.230), and Omar Gasimli (47.120) all took gold medals.
• Ali Niftaliyev (53.090) secured silver, while Nijat Mirzayev (52.690) won bronze.
• In the team competition, Ibrahim Mustafazade, Ali Niftaliyev, and Farhad Valiyev finished in third place, adding another bronze medal.
• In total, our trampoline gymnasts won 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals (6 medals overall).
Double Mini-Trampoline
In the double mini-trampoline discipline, Huseyn Abbasov secured another gold medal with 25.200 points.
In total, our national team concluded the international tournament with 11 medals, and the Azerbaijani national anthem was played 7 times in honor of our gymnasts' victories.
Other International Gymnastics Events
The same weekend, Azerbaijani rhythmic gymnasts competed in the FIG World Challenge Cup in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from July 12 to 14.
• Senior gymnasts Zohra Agamirova and Ilona Zeynalova represented Azerbaijan.
• Agamirova’s best result was 31.200 points in the hoop routine, while Zeynalova excelled in the ball routine with 29.900 points.
Meanwhile, in Bodø, Norway, on July 13, the 4th European Gymnastics "Challenge" for Life took place, showcasing "Gymnastics for All".
Azerbaijan was represented by the "Moonlight" team, consisting of Samira Safarli, Abid Aslanov, Leman Zeynalzade, Aygul Babashova, Nurjahan Aliyeva, Fidan Badalova, Milena Humbatova, Aygun Ismayilova, Rana Fataliyeva, Sehri Teymurzade, Maria Koleva, Tahira Abushova, Daria Kshnyakina, Sekina Askerova, and Maryam Hasanova.
Among 60 teams, "Moonlight" secured 3rd place and was awarded the bronze medal.
