The Grand Prix competitions in rhythmic gymnastics have come to the end in Marbella (Spain) where Azerbaijani sportswomen Aliya Garayeva and Anna Gurbanova took part in.
According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, separate finals were held on the competitions’ last day. Having received 27.55 points, Aliya Garayeva won the 3rd place in an exercise with a ribbon. Only two Russian gymnasts Yevgeniya Kanayeva and Darya Kondakova took the lead over our gymnast.
Aliya took the 7th places in the finals with a rope (26.375) and a hoop (25.925).
Anna Gurbanova performed in the final with a ball where she took the fifth place with 26.45 points.
“A week ago, my team-mate Anna Gurbanova became the 3rd in France, and, now, it was my turn to win another bronze medal,” Garayeva said. “Now, events in Minsk (May 21-23) and in Innsbruck (June 11-13) await us. So, we should not relax in no circumstances.
And on the Grand Prix first day, the tournament in the all-around took place. Garayeva became the 7th with a total result – 107.375, and Gurbanova took the 13th place (104.725) among 27 participants. The Olympic champion Yevgeniya Kanayeva won a victory here as well.
As to the performances of the next few days, the “Alina-2010” International Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival will be held in Moscow on May 19, where Azerbaijan will be represented by the country’s group team.
