The first national gymnastics competition of the year successfully completed

On February 15 and 16, the first national gymnastics competition of the year was held in our country. The 8th Open Azerbaijan Championship in trampoline gymnastics and the Open Baku Championship took place at the Baku Olympic Sports Complex, with nearly 110 athletes competing for the championship title.

Representatives from “Ocaq Sport” Club and the Baku Gymnastics School (Specialized Olympic Reserve Children and Youth Gymnastics School) showcased their bold and skillful performances on the trampoline. Local athletes were joined by members of the national teams from Kazakhstan, Latvia, Slovenia, and Georgia, as well as gymnasts from the “Shevardeni” and Batumi clubs (Georgia). This not only provided participants representing various age groups with the excitement of international competition but also played a significant role in enhancing their experience.

On the first day of the competition, winners and medalists were determined in the individual program among the younger athletes (2017), children (2014-2016), adolescents (2012-2013), youth (2008-2011), and seniors (2007 and older). On the second day, the top performers in the synchronized program among children, adolescents, youth, and seniors took to the podium.

Thus, the first start of the national competition season successfully concluded. Ahead, gymnastics enthusiasts can look forward to the first international competition of the year in this discipline, the World Cup in trampoline gymnastics.
