The FIG Trampoline Gymnastics & Tumbling World Cup has started today at “Milli Gimnastika Arenasi” (National Gymnastics Arena).
300 gymnasts from 32 countries are competing in 3-day competition. This year's World Сup is qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games Paris-2024.
In the event in Trampoline Gymnastics, the members of Azerbaijani National Team were represented by the Silver medalist of the World Cup (women), winner of the FIG Cup series (Individual program) - Seljan Mahsudova, the winner of World Age Group competitions among men (Individual & Synchronized programs) - Huseyn Abbasov, the winners of International tournaments - Nijat Mirzayev (Individual & Synchronized programs) & Mehdi Aliyev (Individual program).
The members of our National Team, European & two-time World Champion - Mikhail Malkin, World Champions in Team competition - Adil Hajizada & Tofig Aliyev and the Bronze medalist of the European Championships among Juniors in Team competition - Bilal Gurbanov, will take part in the competition in Tumbling.
It should be mentioned that this is the first time that our country is represented by our local athletes in Men’s competitions at the FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup.
Following the Opening Ceremony held on the first day of the competition, individual performances were started within the qualifications of Trampoline Gymnastics.
Our experienced gymnast – S. Mahsudova (women), who performed in the Individual program, qualified for the Semi-final with 53.630 points after two routines.
Although our representatives Huseyn Abbasov, Nijat Mirzayev & Mehdi Aliyev, who made their debut at the World Cup, also demonstrated their skills in the Individual program, unfortunately they could not qualify for the Semi-final.
Tomorrow, the gymnasts in the Individual program will test their strength in the Trampoline Gymnastics Semi-final, while athletes in the Synchronized program will perform in the Qualifications.
It should be mentioned that the Qualification in Tumbling will also start tomorrow.
