Our gymnasts win 4 Gold & 2 Silver medals from the weekend competitions

Last weekend, representatives of Azerbaijan participated in three international tournaments. At the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup held in the Bulgarian city of Burgas on May 10-12, our athletes won three medals in Combined Exercises. The Mixed Pair consisting of Aghasif Rahimov & Raziya Seyidli won the gold medal of the competition. According to the results of their performances, getting 29.570 points, they left behind the Ukrainian and Israeli gymnasts, who finished the competition in the second and third places and were unreachable for their rivals. In addition to the Gold medal, Azerbaijani gymnasts also grabbed two Silver medals. Following the representatives of Kazakhstan, Men’s Pair of Murad Rafiyev & Daniel Abbasov (28.510), completed the tournament on the 2nd place. Our Men’s Group consisting of Riad Safarov, Abdulla Al-Mashaykhi, Seymur Jafarov & Rasul Seyidli took the second place.
Our gymnasts proudly waved the flag of Azerbaijan at another international competition - “Acro Cup” held on the same date & place. Our Women’s Group, consisting of Rashidova Zahra, Bashiri Anahita & Zeyniyeva Nazrin, performed in the program of Balance (28.500), Dynamic (28.390) & Combined (29.000) Exercises. Our National Team, mounting the top of the podium in all three programs, won 3 Gold medals. Thus, in conclusion of the World Cup & “Acro Cup” International Tournament held in Burgas (Bulgaria), the Azerbaijani team won 4 Gold and 2 Silver medals in total. With the enthusiasm of victory & their recent achievements, our athletes are on their way to take part in another major event - the FIG World Cup, which will be held in Portugal (May 17-19).
On May 10-12, another representative tested her strength at tournament in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Thus, Ilona Zeynalova’s performance in the All-Around at the FIG World Challenge Cup series held in the Portuguese city of Portimão, was evaluated with 55.750 points.
