GYMNASTS FROM DERBENT – ARE TAKING PART IN THE TRAINING CAMP IN BAKU

A team of Derbent’s gymnasts are taking part in the training camp in Baku. According to the agreement between sports administrations of two cities, trainings will last for a week.

According to the Derbent’s coach in rhythmic gymnastics, our compatriot Ophelia Mammadova, she has come to Baku with 5 gymnasts. Among them, 2 gymnasts are the candidates for master of sports, Zohra Javadova and Barin Gamzatova, as well as 3 young gymnasts: Leyla Gamzatova, Elvira Nabiyeva and Amaliya Devirova.

As their coach admitted, it is the girls’ first visit to Baku; so far, they have performed only in Derbent with their Gala performances during city festivals.

“Why have we chosen Baku?” the tutor asked. “We have come to Baku, as we are always heartily welcomed here; wonderful conditions are created for our trainings. Moreover, it is not far and it is convenient.”

The hall is big and light. Your coaches assist us with their advices and work. And the children are very pleased. Imagine that they are looking forward to the next morning in order to go to the training.

In the course of the training camp, Daghestani tutor, together with her Azerbaijani colleagues, will hold mini-estimation. “Your specialists’ opinions are very interesting for us; we would like to adopt your experience, as Azerbaijani gymnastics is known and esteemed in Europe, as well as in the world,” she stated.

“We equally supported Russia and Azerbaijan at the European Championships held recently in Baku. Both organization and gymnasts’ performances left the best lasting impression,” O. Mammadova said. Your successes were on everybody’s lips in our city. The development of rhythmic gymnastics in Azerbaijan is obvious, we are pleased with it and will be very grateful for any help, any cooperation.”
