One week left until the World Championships of soaring gymnasts in Baku

After the year's biggest event – the Olympic Games – trampoline gymnasts are now preparing for the next major international competition: the World Championships.

Following their stop in the Land of the Rising Sun – Japan – their next destination will be the Land of Fire, Azerbaijan. The Milli Gymnastics Arena, a facility dedicated exclusively to gymnastics disciplines, will host not only trampoline gymnasts but also tumbling and double mini-trampoline athletes. Trampoline gymnasts will also compete in the synchronized program during this championship.

According to the official registration list, athletes from 33 countries will gather in Baku to compete for world titles. In this highly anticipated competition, decorated star gymnasts will strive to maintain their dominance, while ambitious newcomers will attempt to surpass them and secure spots on the podium.

A total of 266 gymnasts will compete for 51 medals: 160 in trampoline, 63 in tumbling, and 43 in double mini-trampoline.

Trampoline Gymnastics (Individual Program)
Among the top contenders in the men's events are Ivan Litvinovich (Belarus), the reigning Olympic champion, and Dylan Schmidt (New Zealand), the Olympic bronze medalist. Also participating will be experienced gymnasts such as world silver and bronze medalists Dmitry Ushakov and Mikhail Melnik (RGF), as well as world silver medalist Allan Morante (France).

In the women’s individual events, the main favorite is Bryony Page, the bronze medalist from the last Olympic Games. The 2017 world champion, 40-year-old Belarusian gymnast Katrina Petrenia, will also be among the participants.

Trampoline Gymnastics (Synchronized Program)
In the synchronized pairs category, Japanese gymnasts including former world champion Yumi Takagi and her new partner Narumi Tamura aim for a podium finish. Other notable pairs include Canadian gymnasts and world medalists Sarah Milette and Sofiane Métho, as well as the Belarusian pair Katrina Petrenia and Victoria Kuidan. In the men's synchronized competition, veteran trampolinists Dmitry Ushakov and Nikita Fedorenko (Russia) will aim to outperform their younger competitors.

Double Mini-Trampoline
In the double mini-trampoline discipline, multiple-time world champion Mikhail Zalomin (RGF) and two-time world champion Lina Sjöberg (Sweden) will strive to defend their titles at the Milli Gymnastics Arena.

Tumbling
In tumbling, European champion and World Age Group Competitions winner Mikhail Malkin will represent Azerbaijan and fight for a spot on the podium. His main rivals will be world champions Vadim Afanasev and Alexander Lisitsyn (Russia). Among women, Victoria Danilenko (Russia), the reigning world champion, and Shanice Davidson (Great Britain), the world silver medalist, will compete fiercely for the championship title.
