Last weekend was truly memorable for Azerbaijan’s Acrobatic Gymnastics representatives, as they won Gold Medals in Portugal. From September 12 to 15, the city of Guimarães hosted the World Age Group Competitions and the first-ever Junior World Championships, where Azerbaijan secured two Gold Medals simultaneously.
The women's group of Nazrin Zeyniyeva, Anahita Bashiri and Zahra Rashidova successfully qualified for the final in the 13-19 Age Category, securing first place with a score of 28.550. For the first time in history, our group entered the top five of the Junior World Championships final, triumphing over competitors from Israel, the Netherlands, Great Britain and Portugal with a score of 29.900.
Other Women’s Groups also competed at the event:
• Dinara Ibadova – Gashang Aghamoghlanli – Jeyla Alizada (12-18 age category)
• Diana Mammadova – Sofiya Babayeva – Firuza Gasımzada (12-18 age category)
• Ayan Hacili – Aylin Mammadova – Jasmin Aliyeva (13-19 age category)
The Women’s Group of Diana Mammadova, Sofiya Babayeva and Firuza Gasımzada finished fifth in the final with a score of 26.850.
Now, it's time for our senior gymnasts to take the stage at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, also being held in Portugal.
