MEDALS FROM AUSTRIA AND UZBEKISTAN, AS WELL AS “MISS PHOTO” FROM POLAND

Newly-fledged 3 time Azerbaijani champion Aliya Garayeva won three medals in one tournament – 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Grand Prix tournament completed in Austrian Innsbruck.

According to the press service of the country’s Gymnastics Federation, all her awards were won in separate finals. She won the “silver” in an exercise with a ribbon (28.225 points), and “bronzes” – with a rope (27.425) and a hoop (27.95).

“Three medals from one tournament – is a very honorary mission but it is a pity that there is no “gold” among them,” Aliya says. “All first places were won by Russian gymnasts. I am also going to take part in the competition in Brazil on July 1-4 where I will try to demonstrate a worthy performance.”

A second representative of Azerbaijan at the Grand Prix Anna Gurbanova showed the 7th result with a rope and the 8th with a ribbon.

Young Azerbaijani gymnasts have also gathered in the yield of medals in the tournament in Tashkent.

A 14-year-old Aysha Mustafayeva became the first in the all-around in her age group, as well as in the finals with a rope and a ball. Jannat Mammadova (born in 1999) also won the gold medal in the final with a ball, and she got a silver medal in the all-around. Mehpara Mansurova also became the second with a rope, as well as the third in the all-around and with a ball in the same age group. The fourth young competitor, 9-year-old Nurana Mansurova took the first place in her age group.

Another “Baltic Cup” international tournament in rhythmic gymnastics has come to the end in Poland where Azerbaijan was represented by Dina Gorina. After the 6th place in the all-around, she performed in three separate finals. Gorina gave her best result with a ball (25.5 points) – the 7th place, and she became the 8th with a hoop and a ribbon. Here, the victory was celebrated by a gymnast from Poland Ioanna Mitrosh.

The Azerbaijani national team’s head coach, Mariana Vasileva, is contented with her gymnast’s results “who had a temperature during the performance.” Nevertheless, it did not prevent Gorina from becoming “Miss Photo” according to the contests’ results.
