28 November 2021
Today marked the conclusion of the final international competition organized by the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation this year.
Although it was the first time Baku hosted the 28th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions for Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline, it was the fifth international event held in our country in 2021.
From November 25–28, a total of 15 Azerbaijani gymnasts competed in individual and synchronized trampoline, tumbling, and double mini-trampoline programs.
Maqsud Mahsudov, the winner of the previous World Age Group Competitions, claimed victory once again at the National Gymnastics Arena. Competing in the 13–14 age category, he outperformed all of his rivals to secure the gold medal. As a result, our national flag was raised and anthem played in our home arena.
Two other athletes narrowly missed the podium. Seljan Mahsudova, competing in the individual trampoline program among 17–21-year-olds, and Tofiq Aliyev, in the tumbling track, both finished 4th in the final round—just a step away from medals.
In synchronized trampoline, Maqsud Mahsudov and Nijat Mirzayev also advanced to the final. They competed in the 13–14 age group and placed 6th.
In addition, the trampoline events featured performances by Ammar Bakhshaliyev (11–12 age group), Ibrahim Mustafazadeh (11–12), Mehdi Aliyev (13–14), Ali Niftaliyev (13–14), Shafiga Humbatova (13–14) and Sama Jafarova (11–12). In tumbling, Adil Hajizadeh (15–16), Bilal Gurbanov (15–16), Huseyn Asadullayev (15–16), Aleksey Karatashov (13–14) and Elnur Mammadov (15–16) took part.
It is worth noting that due to the existing quarantine measures, the World Age Group Competitions were held without spectators. To minimize interaction among individuals and ensure compliance with the rules and recommendations of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), the Local Organizing Committee implemented a number of preventive measures.
As the Local Organizing Committee of the World Age Group Competitions, we express our sincere gratitude to the relevant state institutions and organizations for their cooperation in organizing this event.
