ONE “SILVER” AND SEVEN “BRONZES” FROM THE GRAND PRIX IN ISRAEL

Azerbaijani gymnasts continue to overcome the Grand Prix series’ tournaments with medal step. Following the Grand Prix in Moscow, the awards have been won in Israeli Holon.

According to the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, the national team’s leader Aliya Garayeva mounted the bronze step of the podium three times. First, she was competing with two Russians Yevgeniya Kanayeva and Darya Dmitriyeva in the all-around, and, then, together with another Russian gymnast Darya Kondakova, kept their company in the finals with a hoop and a ball.

Zeynab Javadli is coming back to Baku in the elated mood as well. She also won three bronze medals not at the Grand Prix tournament, but at the international competition. The promising gymnast became the third in the all-around, with a ball and a ribbon.

“And another “bronze”, which, in my opinion, is very important, was won by a 13-year-old Gulsum Shafizada performing in the juniors’ tournament,” the Azerbaijani national team’s head coach, Mariana Vasileva, noted. “Very young sportswoman has already been valued by many specialists and her 4th place in the all-around indicates her success.”

“And, naturally, our junior group team, which wins the “silver” at three tournaments in a row, also made me glad. The girls improve their skills with their every appearance on the floor. Therefore, the second place of Lala Yusifova, Aysha Mustafayeva, Mansura Bagiyeva, Aynur Jabbarli, Siyana Vasileva and Yekaterina Prokopenko with 5 ropes is natural today. Russian gymnasts became the first again. And the third place was taken by the floor’s hostesses.”

“As to the next event, it will be the “Baltic Hoop” international tournament to be held in Riga on March 12-13, where Zeynab Javadli and a junior group team will perform again,” Mariana Vasileva summed up.
