Nearly 300 gymnasts from 67 countries compete in our capital

On the first day of the World Cup, during the qualification round, male athletes presented their routines in floor exercises, parallel bars, and rings. Female gymnasts executed their movements on vault and uneven bars.

Six representatives from Azerbaijan tested their skills on the first day of the competition. Our experienced athlete Nikita Simonov, who is one of our main medal hopes, performed on rings. He finished the qualification round in 9th place with a score of 14.133. Unfortunately, this score was not sufficient for him to advance to the final round.

Our young gymnast Nazanin Teymurova, who started competing among seniors last year, secured 13th place in vault with a score of 12.549.

In the parallel bars, Ivan Tikhonov placed 17th with a score of 13.866, while Rasul Ahmadzade finished in 44th place with a score of 11.133.

In floor exercises, our representatives Mensum Safarov and Murad Agarzaev ranked 38th and 48th, respectively.

The World Cup, which serves as a qualifier for the Olympic Games, features nearly 300 athletes from 67 countries. The four-day competition includes qualification rounds on the first two days and final rounds on the following two days. In tomorrow's qualification round, male athletes will compete in vault, pommel horse, and rings, while female athletes will test their skills on balance beam and floor exercises.
