Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation has started the national competition season. The 9th Trampoline Gymnastics and 21st Tumbling Azerbaijan & Baku Championships were held in the auxiliary hall of the National Gymnastics Arena, the traditional competition venue.
Over two days, athletes of various age categories competed for victory in both gymnastics disciplines. In Trampoline Gymnastics, gymnasts performed in individual and synchronized programs across the following age categories: Mini (2016-2018), Children (2013-2015), Pre-juniors (2011-2012), Juniors (2009-2010) and Seniors (2008 and older).
In Tumbling, the participants also showcased their performances in the following age categories: Mini (2016-2018), Children (2013-2015), Pre-juniors (2011-2012), Juniors (2009-2010) and Seniors (2008 and older).
For some participants, this competition served as important preparation for the upcoming FIG Trampoline Gymnastics & Tumbling World Cup, which will be held in Baku on February 22&23. Notably, Seljan Mahsudova and Ali Niftaliyev performed together in a mixed synchronized routine for the first time, preparing for the World Cup. Shafiga Humbatova and Nijat Mirzayev also competed in the mixed synchronized program. These two pairs will make history as the first Azerbaijani gymnasts to compete in the mixed synchronized Trampoline program at a World Cup.
The Tumbling Competition was equally exciting. In the Senior Category, Tofig Aliyev and Adil Hajizadeh considered the main favorites, faced strong competition from Elnur Mammadov, Aleksey Karatashov and Huseyn Asadullayev. In the upcoming World Cup on February 22-23, Tofig, Adil, Aleksey, and Huseyn will represent Azerbaijan on the international stage.
In summary, the first event of the local competition season was completed.
