Productive weekend for rhythmic gymnastics: Zhala Piriyeva wins bronze medal

AEON Cup 2014 Worldwide Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships wrapped up in the capital of Japan yesterday.


A traditional club world championships has brought together eighteen clubs, the press service of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation reported. Each team included three gymnasts, two of which were seniors and one junior gymnast.

Azerbaijani Ocaq Sport Club represented by Marina Durunda, Gulsum Shafizada and Zhala Piriyeva took the fifth position following the results of the competition.


Junior Zhala Piriyeva, who excelled once again, won a bronze medal and ranked third getting high score for her memorable performances with ribbon, ball, clubs and hoop. Russian gymnast Veronica Poliakova became the first, while Belarusian Maria Trubach won silver medal.

The event brought together athlete from 13 countries, and our gymnast Ayshan Bayramova, who scored 60.400 points following her performances ranked 10th.

Meanwhile, "Zhuldyz Cup - 2014" international rhythmic gymnastics tournament ended in Astana on October 17. Athletes from nine countries born in 1998 and younger participated in the competition.


Eight young gymnasts led by the coach Sevil Mammadova represented Azerbaijan. Fatima Shafizada and Kamilla Mammadova represented our country in the judiciary.


One of our youngest gymnasts, Fatima Mammadzada won the gold medal of the tournament, performing without apparatus among those born in 2007.


Moreover, Narmina Samedova (2004) won a silver medal in the exercises with ball and rope, and Alina Gezalova (2006) became the bronze medalist of the tournament, performing without apparatus.
